    Its Just not Cricket

I am so really “pissed” with the ICC they have sold the rights to the Cricket World Cup to SKY TV I have cable and therefore unless I am willing to pay extra I have to make do with the highlights on BBC1. Some where in the back of my mind I remember a “Labour Political Sports Minister saying that they would like to see a more diverse selection of sport including high profile competition on terrestrial television. So who do I blame SKY Virgin or the bloody politicians each way I still don’t get to watch the world cup live.

    A very “PISSED” Norman

    Fear? or trust?

    Isaiah 26:3,

“You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.”

Many times in the past I have spent teaching my granddaughter Mikala, flying a kite playing in the park swimming. I remember when I first took her swimming she was really scared and held on to me for grim death, panicking that I would let her go and she would drown. What did I do well I encouraged her to trust first herself and secondly to trust me, she was so certain that I would always be their for her to trust and cling to. This leaves me to think of the Christian approach to trust well I thought of the following. Perhaps you may get some insight to my Christian trust and faith.

It’s when we lose touch with the Lord that we fall into fear and panic, but keeping our minds on Him in thought, prayer, and worship brings peace to our hearts and minds. Most of us have sung about this truth. I some times let the words of this old faithful hymn sink deep into my soul.

What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and grief to bear!

What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!

O what peace we often forfeit,O what needless pain we bear,

all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?

We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer.

Can we find a friend so faithfulwho will all our sorrows share?

Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.

We must grip tightly to our faith in Christ through prayer and mediation on a daily basis Then, whether our weakness presents us with our fears, holding on to our faith keeps us in the safe hands of our lord Jesus. However, if we look to ourselves or at the “beast,” whatever that may be, then we will always feel weak, helpless, and afraid.

Dear Lord, No matter how wild the ride gets, I trust that You are in control and I’m safe holding on to You, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Late night wanderings again folks, hope I dont disturb Sue

Another night of pain and no sleep, I know I have said this before but I really don’t know how much I can put up with this. To describe it a bit better all I can say is that they are phantom pains, I’ve heard of people who lose limbs say that they still get the sensations. Well the fact is so do I, only unlike a limb my problem is internal. When I spoke to Mr Webb he said I was to expect this, but what I cant seem to grasp is why the hell do they always come at night when I want to go to bed. They then not only disturb me but poor Sue has to suffer as well. I’m sitting here praying that they wont last long and that I will get some sleep tonight, I don’t want to take the sleeping pills my GP (Amy) gave me as I always feel as though I have a hangover in the morning.

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day (yes I still have a few) he sent me some clean jokes that you can use in speeches so the first two are below.

    1. A man came home from the office and found his new bride sobbing convulsively. "I feel terrible," she told him. "I was pressing your suit and I burned a big hole in the seat of your trousers."

"Oh, just forget it," consoled her husband. "Remember that I've got an extra pair of trousers for that suit."

"Yes, I know. And it's lucky you have!" said the woman, drying her eyes. "I was able to use a piece from them to patch the hole!"

    2. A noted psychiatrist was a guest at a gathering of humor editors, and his host naturally broached the subject in which the doctor was most at ease. "Would you mind telling me, Doctor," he asked, "how you detect a mental deficiency in somebody who appears completely normal?"

"Nothing is easier," he replied. "You ask him a simple question which everyone should answer with no trouble. If he hesitates, that puts you on the track."

    "What sort of question?"

"Well, you might ask him, 'Captain Cook made three trips around the world and died during one of them. Which one?'"

The editor thought a moment, then said with a nervous laugh, "You wouldn't happen to have another example would you? I must confess I don't know much about history."

Thank you all so much for your prayers on this painful night, God Bless and I’m gone

    Update

Its late and the rain is pouring down, I sit at my computer room widow watching the rain fall past the street lights. That proves to some of you I know how to relax. Mind you one of the lights needs looking at as it keeps flickering.

Why a blog tonight, well this is an update on family life. My granddaughter Mikala has given me a fish tank, me and the fish get on well we all collectively have an attention span of minutes. Mind you I can spend hours looking at them now. We have a collective intelligence of the elected member on Medway Council. (stop it now Norman you are turning into Mr Angry as Marcus said the other day).

Derick has now set aside time to do the usual decorating for the family he has spent the last three weeks doing his former wife’s house, and intends to do his sons bedroom over the Easter. We intend to have the kitchen and living room painted before the summer.

On top of that there is the task of trying to sort out the grass in the front and back gardens. We have been invaded by moss and weeds, so a period of hard work is only just around the corner for Derick and Richard, no point in having healthy well meaning sons and sons in law if you don’t take advantage of them. I will willingly spend the time supervising. Christ can you imagine what Sue would say if I picked up any gardening tool. She’d have a fit.

Well that’s all for now I will keep you posted, remind me some time to tell you about the roast beef we got from Somerfields.

Time for the struggle to sleep.
